More than 1000 wine and food lovers attended the 16th Annual Rotary Winemakers Cookoff at the Paso Robles Event Center. Local wineries and winemakers and local chefs and restaurants teamed to provided memorable wine and food pairings while competing for honors against each other. While the professional judges were consistent, fair, and, well, professional, the heart of the competition was for the People's Choice award, where each attendee is given three votes for best wine and food. Although rarely acknowledged, bribery for votes by the wineries again proved to be rampant adding to their feverish efforts to win the People's Choice trophy. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Paso Robles (Noon), the Winemakers Cookoff provides over $35,000 in scholarships to deserving high school students in the local area.
